Student Neighborhood Liaison 

 

Primary Supervisor: Assistant Director of Off Campus and Outreach 

Secondary Supervisor: Off Campus Coordinator

Pay: $10/hour (5-10 hours/week)

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of aUsTinite events both on and off campus.
  • Collaborate and work within a team (fellow Student Neighborhood Liaisons and full time staff).
  • Serve as a resource for students, families and community members in terms of campus involvement, city resources and information about living off campus.
  • Create media content such as blog posts, social media graphics and presentations.
  • Co-present and provide a student perspective during information sessions and presentations.
  • Attend community meetings and provide off-campus initiative updates as appropriate.
  • Synthesize information from community meetings to be shared within the team and at committee meetings in the form of notes and briefings.
  • Research and promote events, activities and resources in the Austin community. 
  • Assist with campus program collaborations between campus departments and community entities. 
  • Work in compliance with all university, departmental, and programmatic policies, procedures and standards.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation within requested timeframes.
  • Maintain campus confidentiality, except when university policy and/or law mandates a report is made.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned within the Office of the Dean of Students and the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs. 

Training and Other Requirements:

  • Completion of training sessions as assigned
  • Remain in good academic standing and maintain good standing with Student Conduct
  • Completion of all policies and procedures documentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience planning and executing events
  • Living off campus during the 2022-2023 academic school year

Time Commitment:

  • Commit to being a Student Neighborhood Liaison for the Fall and/or Spring semesters
  • Work 5 - 10 hours on a mutually convenient schedule (specific hours to be determined at the beginning of each semester)
  • Attend Student Neighborhood Liaison meetings twice a month (date & time TBD)
  • Attend individual check-ins with supervisor once a week (date & time TBD)
  • Some night and weekend hours
